L.A. Witch is an American psych/punk/garage band formed in LosAngeles, California in 2011. Their mini album, Octubre, was firstreleased as a digital release only in 2018. Through the years thebands reputation has started to grow. They had moved on and stoppedplaying these songs live.Then one day the band decided it was timeto revisit these old tunes and reshaping them into Octubre, afive-song EP that delves deeper into their darker side. Becausethese are old songs—we don’t play them live anymore but stillwanted them to be heard—this was the perfect opportunity to getexperimental with sounds and textures, Sanchez says of the EP.Despite this new studio adventurism, the songs on Octubre stay trueto L.A. Witch’s vintage starkness. Garage rock mixed with The Doorsand 13th Floor Elevators makes it the perfect record to enjoy whenthe autumn is near or by the end of the day when the darknessstarts to fall into your window. Reimagined and reshaped, thesesongs not only represent the band’s beginnings but also serve as ateaser for the band’s future output.
