Tattoo - The Exotic Art of Skin Decoration, av Michelle Delio (editor of Skin Art magazine) – 7 free temporary tattoos inside
There aren't many tattoo books, fewer that are as useful, tasteful, and attractive as this one. Delio aims both to celebrate the artwork by presenting splendid examples and to inspire others to get tattoos by honestly and personably describing the art and business of tattooing, stressing the considerations to be made before getting a tattoo, and showing off some celebrity tattoos, fake (the ones movie stars use while in character; Rod Steiger as the Illustrated Man, for instance) and genuine (lots of rock stars have 'em - are you surprised?).
The artwork is impressively colourful (even in examples of black and gray work) and intricate (except in examples of the tribal style, which feature black silhouette like figuration). An occasionally droll glossary and a brief directory of top-flight tattooists conclude.
Written by the managing editor of Skin Art magazine, this vivid, visual celebration of the tatooist's art covers every inch of illustrated territory, including sections on celebrity tatoos, today's tatoo scene, and tatoo history. Includes a sheet of seven color tattoo transfers. 120 colour photos.
