The Kinks were one of the most influential bands of the BritishInvasion, fueled by the songwriting genius of Ray Davies. Earlysingles You Really Got Me and All Day And All Of The Night werebrutal, three-chord ravers that paved the way for punk and metalwhile inspiring peers like the Who. In the mid-’60s, frontman RayDavies came into his own as a songwriter, developing a wry wit andan eye for social commentary that culminated in a pair ofconceptual LPs, The Village Green Preservation Society and Arthur(Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire), that provedenormously influential over the years. By the end of the ’70s, theKinks had refashioned themselves as a hard rock stadium act,resulting in a surge of late-period popularity until they disbandedfor good in the mid-’90s. This dvd captures a lot of the TVapperances the band did between 1974 and 1996
