This Double Deck ELAL Airline Playing Cards Set in the Original Box from Israel is colorful and ready for your next game. The front of the box reads: Playing Cards from Israel, Designed for ELAL by Jean David, in pink and white hues with a black outlined design. Both decks of cards are unopened, wrapped in clear cellophane. The cards holder slides out sideways from the box.
The box measures 5" x 3 3/4" with two open sides. The card sets each measure 2 1/4" x 3 1/2", one with a blue and white design on the backs and one with a brown and white design on the backs. The fronts are white and black with Hebrew lettering in the middle and the words: Made in Israel, below the card suit. The back of the box explains that ELAL Israel Airlines commissioned Jean David (1908-1993), an Israeli artist, to portray Kings, Queens, and Heroes of Israel's Biblical past on the cards. The card designs can be seen on the World Web Playing Card Museum: https://www.wopc.co.uk/israel/el-al. According to the website, these card decks were produced by De La Rue between 1964-1968.
The cards have not been opened and do not have any dents or dings visible. The box is in good vintage condition, cared for lovingly. The edges are worn and there is a wrinkle on the cover, from production. For more photos, please contact me.
