Rare original 1990 Mexican pressing

The 1960s are considered to be the golden age for rock music inMexico; during this decade, rock groups frequently dominated themusic charts and many of them became teen idols. Mexican guitaristSantana made it big in Usa in the late 60s. In 1971 the two dayFestival Rock y Ruedas de Avándaro, was held and became known asThe Mexican Woodstock as it was expected to attract a maximum of25,000 concertgoers but about 300,000 showed up. The governmenthelped some stranded attendees at the end of the festival bysending 300 buses. 1971 was also the year when this band was formedbut it would take another 2 years before they settled for the nameof Vox Populi. At this time the whole hippie era had faded away andmany classic rock bands started to move into the progressive andhard rock direction. However after the student protests in 1968 thegovernment and music industry gave little support to rock bandsduring the seventies. And the whole rock culture became anunderground movement. Many bands suffered from it and had toperform for free in tiny places. Vox Populi were one of those bandsthat struggled through the 70s together with acts such as PerroFantastico, Mara, Stray Cat, Rock Moviloy and many more. Vox Populiis still active but have only released two albums during their longcareer, the self titled disc in 1984 and Angel Fugaz in 1990. Thedebut album is more heavy blues oriented while this second disc ismore classic rock/alternative rock. Both discs are hard to find andif you want to dig more into the Mexican rock scene then check outthis band
