Rare 1983 compilaton album

During some autumn evenings in 1982 more than 3000 rock bitesgathered at Träffen in Nyköping. The arrangement was acollaboration between Södermanlands Nyheter, Kulturforum andFolkets Hus in Nyköping. Following a call in the SödermanlandsNyheter magazine, 24 rock bands showed up where a jury selected 15of them for the rock nights at Träffen. After the performances itwas up to the crowd to chose their 6 favourites. These 6 bands gota chance to record two tracks each at Studio Svängrummet inNyköping during January and February of 1983 and the final resultis on this album, SN Rocken 1982.

POPENS PIONJÄRER
Pop's Pioneers were from Nyköping. The group said that they wantedto entertain the audience with its modern rock music. Their textshad no message but were mostly about private thoughts.

KOFOT
Kofot were a band from Oxelösund that described their music asvaried melodic rock

ADVICE
Advice were from Nyköping and they were influenced by Americamelodic rock acts like Foreigner and Journey. They won thecompetition and could record four tracks. Two ended up on thiscompilation while the other two Eyes and Shadow Attack wasreleased as a private pressed vinyl single. The band folded withinjust a year and Anders Fästader moved to Stockholm, changed name toNilsson, and joined Great King Rat. Guitarist Stefan Larsson was inthe initial line-up of Treat.

BIXY BEAT
Another band from Nyköping. This time a band who performs their ownmusic in Swedish. The band says that the texts often lack messagesand consist mostly of words about feelings and thoughts.

PANIK
Panik from Oxelösund opens with a decent rock track while thesecond track has more reggae rhythms. The group believed that thetexts, in Swedish, were important and therefore they usually had apolitical meaning.

PIMPS ARMY
Pimps Army from Oxelösund wanted to defined their music as60s-inspired pop with lyrics in English.
