Columbus, Ohio four piece Brujas del Sol 2015 single Starquakeclocks in at 9 minute and offers a space rock track that is bothsmooth and excited, pounding away with a tight bounce between thekick and snare drum. To further the induced trance, the undulatingguitar passages are introduced along with a pulsating bass, and bythe time the two minute mark is passed, the song has hit cruisingaltitude. The trance element of the song never leaves, instead itencourages the listener to sit still and pay attention as theguitar chords ring loud and free. The mid-section is filled withspace-themed sounds, and as exciting as Side A was, Side B is wherethe song really lives up to its title. With the addition ofkeyboards and other samples, the trance from Side A is broken upand now the listener is forced to make his way through a blanket ofspace debris. But rather than surrendering to the fear of impendingdoom, the challenge is met head on, treating the obstacle as a funride at an amusement park. If you enjoy traveling through the solarsystem with other space rock bands then do yourself a favour andstrap in with Brujas del Sol.
