Damien, from the University town of Uppsala, formed in 1982 isamong Swedens premiere thrash metal acts. Anyone who heard the bandback in the 80s was sure that they would sign a record deal and goon to greater things. Five demos would be released during theirexistence up to 1988. The band would also release the `Requiem ForThe Dead´ mini album and get a track onto the `Is This Heavy OrWhat´ vinyl single compilation. That was however all, successeluded them and original guitarist Rick Meister (real name AndreasPalm) left to join Maninnya Blade and later appearing in Hexenhaus.He was replaced by Lawrence West who later formed Crawley, whilebassist Marre Martini (real name Mats Eriksson) joined Lost Soulsand later became a member of Misery Loves Co. Vocalist TommieAgrippa appeared as a member of Hexenhaus in 1990. The `Requiem ForThe Dead´ are now a highly sought after vinyl and the music ofDamien lives in the hearts and minds of many thrash metal lovers.In the spring of 2012 a double album called `Memorandum´ wasreleased featuring the `Requiem For The Dead´ mini album with tonsof rare demo material as bonus. In the aftermath of the releaseeven more material never before released even on demo cassettes,was unearthed by members and fans of the band. These tracks havenow been meticulously remastered and released on this gloriousdouble vinyl with one sided laser etched. The album is fittinglycalled `Shades From The Past (The Lost Tapes)´. For most of us thisis the first time were hearing these early recordings with one ofSwedens thrash doom metal pioneers
