The Electric Hellfire Club's eclectic, satanic, psychedelicindustrial music debuted in 1994 with the release of their firstalbum, Burn Baby Burn, the EP Satan's Little Helper. The followingyear, they released Kiss The Goat and toured extensively with TypeO Negative and the Genitorturers. Early in 1996, keyboardist ShaneLassen (aka the Rev. Dr. Luv) was killed in an automobile accident;however, the rest of the group persevered and dedicated that year'sCalling Dr. Luv to him. This was the first single from CallingDr.Luv and the title track is a cover tune from Kiss "Dr.Love". Itsa tough song to get wrong, and its exquisite, replete with coolbackups and Shane (the Rev. Dr. Luv's Christian name) samples: afaithful yet fresh rendering of the Gene Simmons manifesto. "Mir.44" is take from the album "Burn Baby Burn" and solicit all theblack ritualistic imagery needed to inspire the most affected gothclub dancefloor. All the references to the prince of darkness mightturn a few folks off, but a literal, humourless translation of BurnBaby Burn probably isn't exactly what Electric Hellfire Clubintended. The single ends with a long remix version of the track"Incubus" which was available in its original form on the album"Kiss The Goat".
