The Avengers are Earth's Mightiest Heroes and the planet's first and last line of defense against any menace that may threaten her. They never lose. The Uncanny X-Men are mutant outlaws whose heroic deeds are often over shadowed by growing mutant hysteria and prejudice. They look after their own. The Soviet Super-Soldiers are Russia's premiere super-heroes and they plan to see the enemy of their country brought to justice! Caught in the middle of these super-powers is the Master of Magnetism! Once an arch villain of the highest order, now Magneto is trying to atone for his past transgressions as a member of the X-Men (see Uncanny X-Men 200). However, his past comes back to haunt him when fragments of his orbital base known as Asteroid M fall to Earth in Kampuchea and attract the attention of the super-hero community! Can a man truly change? And will the Soviet Super-Soldiers and the Avengers give him the chance to? Avengers Lineup: Black Knight, Captain America, Captain Marvel (aka Monica Rambeau), Doctor Druid, She-Hulk, and Thor. X-Men Lineup: Dazzler, Havok, Rogue, Storm, and Wolverine. (Note: This four-part story was reprinted in 1993 in the trade paperback: The X-Menversus the Avengers.)
