Over a two year period, artists Bryndís Snæbjörnsdóttir (Iceland) and Mark Wilson (England) have explored the networks and ripple effects of scientific conservation initiatives in Arizona. They have focused on the reintroduction of the chub in the Colorado River and the condor in the Grand Canyon in a kind of vertical slice of our natural environment. The book is based on the results of this research, as shown in the exhibition Trout Fishing in America and Other Stories at the Arizona State University Art Museum in 2015. "In our often belated attempts to steward, care for or 'repair' environments - when individual animals and animal populations are transformed from beings and societies into data, what of consequence is really captured - and importantly, what is lost?"
