The Watch

The term chronograph comes from the Greek ????????f?? (khronográphos 'time recording'), from ?????? (khrónos 'time') and ???f? (grápho 'to write'). Early versions of the chronograph are the only ones that actually used any "writing": marking the dial with a small pen attached to the index so that the length of the pen mark would indicate how much time had elapsed.

Chronographs were very popular with aviators as they allowed them to make rapid calculations and conduct precise timing. The demand for chronographs grew along with the aviation industry in the early part of the 20th century. As the US exploration of outer space initially involved only test pilots, by order of President Eisenhower, chronographs were on the wrists of many early astronauts.

The Condition

If you search for a beautiful vintage chronograph - this is it!

This Alltime "Chrono" is in excellent and honest overall condition. The watch shows of course some signs from wear but it is still as good as We like them. Well preserved case and a beautiful silver dial with just small signs of ageing. There is a small mark near index 11 as seen in the photo.

The crystal is new and without any damage and the caseback got some signs of opening but nothing remarkable.
